The Hunting Ground

March 8th is International Women’s Day; a day to reflect upon progress made, to call for change, and to celebrate acts of courage by women who have worked tirelessly to change and improve conditions and circumstances in their communities and countries.
Internationally, the theme of International Women’s Day 2015 is “Make It Happen”, which calls to bring equality for women in all areas and aspects of life, such as: greater recognition in arts; more women in senior leadership roles; the growth of women owned businesses; increased financial independence of women; more women in science, engineering, and technology; and for fairer recognition for women in sport.
Provincially, the theme for 2015 is “Influential Women—Agents of Change”. We will be hosting a luncheon in the later part of March to celebrate women all over, but especially those in Saskatchewan, who work hard every day to better the lives of women. We will be hosting a guest speaker at the luncheon, which will cost $10 for adults and $5 for students. The specific details of the luncheon are still TBD, so please check back on our website or Facebook page soon for further details.
Moose Jaw Transition House, together with the Business Women of Moose Jaw, presents the 2015 Southern Saskatchewan PRISM Awards Saturday March 7th at Saskatchewan Polytechnic in Macoun Lounge. The PRISM awards celebrate the outstanding achievements of women in Southern Saskatchewan in a number of areas while doubling as a fundraiser for Moose Jaw Transition House. In 2014, the PRISM awards raised over $26,000 for us here at Transition House, which provided us with much needed resources to hire additional staff.
